Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assist people being supported to obtain valued social roles within their community (domain of community) and support them in fulfilling those roles on a regular basis.
  2. Develop and implement strategies based on SRV’s teachings related to image and competency enhancement with the goal of assisting the person in obtaining and/or increasing the Good Things of Life.
  3. Support people in projecting a positive personal appearance by assisting with personal care needs when necessary and assuring people’s attire is appropriate for the role they are fulfilling
  4. Plan with individuals, family members and significant others to develop goals that maximize their strengths, increase control over their lives, and help to enhance their opportunities to achieve socially valued roles within the role domains of relationships, work, education, recreation, community and culture.
  5. Showcase the person’s interests, talents, gifts, and skills in typical and ordinary ways that community members respect, value, and find interesting. Create opportunities for the person to be welcomed by valued people (domain of relationships)
  6. Develop Career Action Plans for persons served
  7. Modify resumes which match employer needs and preparation for job interviews.
  8. Assess, train and provide initial and ongoing job support to assist the persons served to obtain and maintain employment (work domain) and/or volunteer opportunities and model this for employees being supervised.
  9. Use personal network and network of person served to build relationships and increase opportunities for the person served to obtain valued social roles (i.e, worker, volunteer, community member, etc.)
  10. Utilize methods for the person served and the job site in order to effectively institute strategies for on-the-job training.
  11. Coordinate and assure the safe and efficient transportation of people being supported between destinations.
  12. Adapt or modify tasks and environments to maximize individual strengths and allow for increased competency on the job.
  13. Maximize natural supports in the work place between the person served and their coworkers.
  14. Act as a resource and back-up support to all work sites.
  15. Use a positive teaching method to train persons served in specific job skills.
  16. Adapt and modify job tasks and work environments to allow persons served to work as independently as possible while using fade plans.
  17. Ensure the essential job functions/expectations are accomplished by completing regular site visits.
  18. Ensure persons being supported receive all benefits awarded to typical workers in that role
  19. Maintain quality assurance per the work site’s standards.
  20. Work with the people served to actively seek career opportunities within their local community using a variety of resources such as Internet, career centers, personal and professional networks, etc.
