About the Family Leadership Series
The Family Leadership Series is a statewide leadership development program funded by the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS). It supports parents and caregivers in becoming confident advocates and leaders, helping them build the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to create full, meaningful lives for their family members with disabilities.
Participants learn about the history of disability rights, person-centered planning, best practices, policy and legislative advocacy, and creating a long-term vision for their loved one. Sessions are offered regionally and include in-person and virtual components.

Eligibility for Family Leadership Series
- Open to families and caregivers of individuals who are DDS-eligible. Preference is specifically given to families with a loved one eligible for DDS services
- Applicants may have a child or adult family member of any age who is DDS-eligible
- Open to families living in the Southeastern, Massachusetts
- Participants must be able to attend all required training sessions
This program is provided at no cost to families and is designed to strengthen family voice, leadership capacity, and community engagement.
